Possum Loves Dillo is a weekly cartoon that also serves as a drawing study for me. Each episode is four panels, unshaded with the same story arc: Possum is upset, Dillo soothes him, and they hug.
The simplicity of the story challenges me to find unique compositions each time, and the two characters allow me to explore different drawing techniques. Dillo is made of smooth, round lines, while Possum is rough and scraggly. Dillo has tiny, basic features, while Possum has large, expressive ones. They provide rich opportunities for exploring my drawing.
Also of note: Most episodes are based on the daily lives of my partner and I. Sometimes I am Possum, sometimes he. Also, the strip is the inspiration for the name of my illustration business (PhD = Possum Heart Dillo).
